CS279r Topics in User Interfaces:
Security and Privacy Usability
Overview
This course tackles one of the most challenging problems in computer security; the human factor. User errors are the leading cause of security failures, yet most security systems ignore the importance of usability design.
The course presents background and current research in topics drawn from the fields of computer privacy and security, human-computer interaction and the emerging field of security usability. After introductory lectures providing overviews of the areas, the core of the course involves an intensive lab component emphasizing small group design and evaluation of novel interfaces, along with extensive reading, presentation and discussion of seminal papers in the fields.
