A list of new and recent faculty appointments
Ryan P. Adams
Assistant Professor of Computer Science
In July 2011 Ryan P. Adams was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Previously, he was a CIFAR Junior Research Fellow at the University of Toronto.
His research focuses on machine learning and computational statistics, but he is broadly interested in questions related to artificial intelligence, computational neuroscience, machine vision, and Bayesian nonparametrics.
Conor J. Walsh (starting January 2012)
Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering; Core Faculty Member, Wyss Institute of Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard
Conor J. Walsh's interests are in developing robotic tools for rehabilitation and surgical assistance as well as other innovative medical devices, from conceptual through detailed design. Inspiration for these devices comes from studying human biomechanics and through close collaboration with practicing physicians.
His teaching interests are in the area of engineering design and controls where hands-on learning is combined with lecture based instruction.


Eddie Kohler
Associate Professor of Computer Science
Eddie Kohler is Associate Professor of Computer Science at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Scineces. He was most recently professor of computer science at UCLA and consultant for Meraki. Previously, he was Chief Scientist at Mazu Networks and held a research appointment at ICIR.
His research interests include systems, networks, programming languages, and software engineering.
Energy and environment expert David Keith will become a joint senior
faculty appointee at SEAS and the Harvard Kennedy School, moving to full time
over the next few years as he transitions from the University of Calgary.
Jelani Nelson, a theoretical computer scientist who is currently at MIT and slated to finish up two additional postdocs, will be on board as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science during the 2013-14 academic year.
