- A printer account is an account such that if an email is sent
to the account with a postscript file as the body of the email,
then the postscript file will be sent to some particular line
printer.
Alternatively it may be an account that can be ssh'ed into.
- The printer account name should be an ungessable password, such
as 8 random digits and letters. It should NOT be published.
The contest software will route contestant requested printouts
through a postscript generator and then email the result to the
contestant specific printer account without permitting the contestant
to see the target email address.
Alternatively the contest software will ssh to the
account and send a command to the account with the printout
as command input.
- In many UNIX systems, such a printer account can be made by
making an account and installing in that account the
proper .procmailrc file.
Alternatively the contest manager will provide you with
a .ssh/authorized_keys entry for an account to be used by ssh.
- The printer should be in a private place near the manager PCs
where the manager and student assistants can easily monitor it,
and where contestants cannot see other contestant's printouts.
The student assistants must deliver the printouts to the
contestants. The whereabouts of the contestant can be
printed on the top of each printout if you inform the judge
of the location of each team.
- During the contest, the `printer' command run in your judging account
will list the last few jobs sent to any contest printer, including
your printer.
