New Employee Orientation

The first three months on the job are an Orientation and Review Period—a time when you and your supervisor can assess whether the job is a good fit for all parties.

  • The Hiring Manager Checklist should be reviewed by you and your supervisor.
  • At the end of the first three months, an evaluation of your performance is required.
  • Either the employee or SEAS can end the working relationship for any reason during the Orientation and Review Period.

New Employee Orientation

University-Wide Orientation

The Center for Workplace Development (CWD) offers an orientation seminar for new employees. This seminar introduces new employees to Harvard, provides information about benefits, and answers many questions that new employees might have.

Register for Harvard New Employee Orientation

Our HR Coordinator will typically schedule this orientation on behalf of new employees.  However, if needed, new employees can register for a New Employee Training seminar by email at  training@harvard.edu or by phone at 5-4895.

SEAS Orientation

SEAS offers orientation sessions for new and transfer employees that provide SEAS-specific information.

New employees will be contacted by HR to set up a time to review the New Employee Orientation, which contains helpful resources and links.
