Figure 3. Cross-section of high-temperature Diamond Anvil Cell, capable of 1000 °C. Triangular pressure plates made of Ni-based superalloy are squeezed together by three rhenium bolts. Pressure chamber is loaded cryogenically with liquid argon. Entire cell is placed in a furnace for temperature uniformity. Sm:YAG fluorescence can be used to measure pressure at high temperature.
