After graduating in 2008 from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) with a Master in Materials Engineering, I went on to do a PhD in Materials Science at the University of Cambridge (UK). My research focused on the interplay between functional properties and structural distortions in epitaxial oxide thin films, more specifically on ferromagnetism in Mn-doped and undoped ZnO and conduction at LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interfaces. In July 2012, I started as a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard SEAS.
My project focuses on the growth & characterization of metastable, correlated oxides, such as SmNiO3, on various substrate materials. The goal is to test the feasibility of these oxides for use in high-speed electronic devices.
