Confocal Microscope Facilities
Leica TCS SP5 Confocal Microscope
The Lecia TCS SP5 is located in McKay 519. This is a point scanning confocal microscope. We have 488, 514, 532, 633 laser lines. The confocal is equipped to do FRAP. It also has a setup to More product information can be found on the Leica website. The confocal schedule can be accessed through the airset.com scheduling site. To be added to the schedule please send an email to Louise Jawerth. Leica uses the .lif file format. These can be viewed on your own desktop using MBF imageJ. You can download it here. Also, if you take a time series of zstacks it can be hard to read. I wrote a little matlab function that outputs a zstack for each time point. (when the tif stack you get from the .lif file is inputted). It is here. |

Noran Microscope
We have a Noran Instruments slit-scanning confocal microscope. We are currently building a rheo-confocal setup, which will allow you to load your sample into a commercial rheometer (Malvern Instruments HRnano) and simultaneously study the bulk rheological properties with the microscopic particle kinetics. For more information on the Noran confocal microscope, or if you're interested in learning more about the rheo-confocal setup, or want to come play with it, contact Mike Massa. You can book time on the Noran confocal here. You can book time on the HRnano rheometer here. |
