They are of a fluorescently labeled cell embedded in a labeled collagen network was imaged using confocal microscopy. The 3D image of the fiber displacements above was calculated using 3D PIV on the fibers before and after the addition of cytochalasin D (which makes the cell relax). The color and length are related to displacement size and the thickness is related to the correlation magnitude.
