Lab-grade spectrometers are typically expensive bench top instruments. This, to a large extent, makes them out of reach for widespread, portable application. Our group recently demonstrated a spectrometer based on a meta-lens that functions in the visible that, when paired with an imaging sensor, enables portable use with comparable precision to a laboratory-grade instrument.
