ESE PhD Committee Meetings

The faculty expect PhD students to meet with their research committees at least annually following the qualifying exam.  These meetings are for the student's benefit in order to connect with and receive better advising from their committee members.

The student will prepare a very brief, informal presentation including specific questions for the committee to be followed by an informal, advisory (not evaluative) discussion.  The meeting is to be scheduled for an hour but may take less time.

The advisor will leave the room before the meeting ends so that the student and other committee members  may continue their discussion.  Before leaving the advisor will sign a form, to be sent to the Office of Academic Programs confirming that the meeting took place.  Other committee members sign at the end of the meeting.
