For information or assistance with common repairs, call or visit the Facilities Office.
During business hours (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.), when air conditioning or heating does not work satisfactorily, contact the Facilities Office. Outside of these hours, call Facilities Maintenance Operations at 5-5560. Sometimes, air conditioning may work poorly or stop altogether due to clogged pipes. Addressing this problem can take an hour to several hours, or more; the Facilities Office tries to schedule these repairs on the same day that service is requested (depending on the volume of requests).
During business hours (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.), call the Facilities Office at 5-2840, which will determine the source of the leak and arrange for whatever cleanup is needed. If the leak is extensive and involves structural elements of the SEAS building, the Facilities Office will arrange for the services of an outside contractor. Outside of these hours, call Facilities Maintenance Operations at 5-5560.
If carpeting has been damaged (for example, by a spill), the Facilities Office will send custodial staff to try to remedy it. The Facilities Office will work with you to determine if new carpet is needed. When damage or deterioration is extensive and new carpet is warranted, the Facilities Office will arrange for a contractor to install it.
The Facilities Office will work with you to determine when touch-ups or more extensive paint jobs are needed. Color samples and charts are available from either the Facilities Office or the painter who is contracted for the job. Painting will be scheduled by the Facilities Office to accommodate the needs of your office or department.
Call the Facilities Office at 5-2840 if lights are flickering or have stopped working. Light bulb replacements can be handled by the Facilities Office. If repairs are needed to lights in your office, lab, or classroom, the Facilities Office will contact an electrician.
When you have office furniture needs, contact the Facilities Office.
Curtains and Blinds
Contact the Facilities Office to fix or replace blinds (for the latter a contractor is used).
In most cases, breakdowns of scientific equipment are the responsibility of the relevant SEAS department. However, the Facilities Office should be contacted when the following equipment is involved: air compressor; chiller; or vacuum.
