Dean's Distinction

Purpose: This annual program recognizes a small number of FAS and SEAS staff members for their outstanding citizenship and exceptional contributions in support of the FAS' teaching and research mission.

Who is Eligible for Award: All benefits-eligible full or part-time staff at SEAS in grades 47-60 for Individual Dean’s Distinction, and 47-64 for Team Dean’s Distinction. Nominees must have been hired into a benefits-eligible position prior to 1/1/2018. Less than Half Time staff may be nominated as a member of a team (but not as an individual).

Please note: While previous Dean's Distinction nominees (from any year) are eligible to be nominated again this year, past recipients of Individual Dean's Distinction are not eligible, unless they are being nominated for Team Dean's Distinction. Harvard retirees are not eligible. If you have any questions about someone’s eligibility, contact Annmarie Allen (aallen@seas.harvard.edu) in Human Resources.

What Award Consists of: Winners will receive a framed plaque.

Criteria for Selection: Individual Dean's Distinction: A staff member can be nominated for Individual Dean's Distinction for his or her outstanding citizenship, collaboration, and exceptional contribution in 2018 in support of the teaching and research mission. Team Dean's Distinction: Teams consisting of up to eight staff members can be nominated for Team Dean's Distinction for their exceptional work, and for their collaboration and contribution in 2018.

Nominations and the Nominating Timeframe: Nominations can be made via an online nomination form at www.hr.fas.harvard.edu/deans-distinction between November 6 – 30, 2018. Nominations will be accepted from all members of the SEAS community.

Review Process: All nominations will be reviewed by a committee, which will then make recommendations to the Dean.

Announcement of Winners: Dean’s Distinction awardees are honored at an event in University Hall in March.
