Jr-Shin Li develops novel formula for quantum experiments

Jr-Shin Li, Ph.D. ’06 (applied mathematics), and collaborators derived a mathematical formula to design broadband pulse sequences that can excite a population of nuclear spins over a wide band of frequencies. ‘

Their research, the first to find that designing the pulse can be done analytically, was published in Nature Communications on Sept. 5. The theoretical work could enable new methods for pulse sequence design in quantum control.

Li, Das Family Distinguished Career Development Associate Professor of Electrical and Systems Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, and his team’s research were featured by science news site Phys.org.
