Liu’s microscope research highlighted in Science

A novel microscope co-developed by Tsung-li Liu, Ph.D. ’13 (electrical engineering), has been featured in Science.

Liu, currently a research scientist at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, worked on the microscope project while he was a postdoctoral associate at the Janelia Research Campus of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. The microscope is capable of capturing 3-D images and videos of cells inside living organisms in unprecedented detail.

At Vertex, Liu is designing optical systems to help researchers understand the effects of diseases and drugs on cells.
