Alvarez-Cohen named vice provost at UC Berkeley

Lisa Alvarez-Cohen, A.B. ’84 (engineering and applied sciences) has been appointed vice provost for academic planning at the University of California, Berkeley.

Alvarez-Cohen, Fred and Claire Saur Professor of Environmental Engineering, joined the faculty at UC Berkeley in 1991. Her research focuses on the application of microbiological processes for the elimination of environmental contaminants.

As vice provost for academic planning, Alvarez-Cohen will coordinate opportunities for collaboration in academic programs and support the development of current and emerging disciplines through program and space initiatives.
