Lambropoulos to receive excellence in teaching award

John Lambropoulos, S.M. ’81 (applied sciences and mechanical engineering), Ph.D. ’84 (mechanical engineering), has been honored with the Goergen Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching from the University of Rochester.

Lambropoulos, chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, joined the University of Rochester faculty in 1984 and was appointed chair in 2007. His research focuses on micromechanics, which bridges material science and solid mechanics.

Nominations for the Goergen Award come from students, faculty, staff members, and administrators, and the winners are chosen by the deans of the College, the School of Arts and Sciences, and the Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences.
