Cohen named president of FIRST

Alumnus to lead the global robotics community for youth

Lawrence Cohen, A.B. ’81 (engineering and applied sciences) has been named president of FIRST, an international youth organization that operates a series of competitions to inspire students in engineering and technology fields.

Cohen, who most recently worked as partner and global head of operations and technology at AllianceBernstein, has served on the New York City FIRST Executive Advisory Board and Board of Directors since 2010.

In his role as president, Cohen will work with the FIRST Board of Directors to advance the organization’s strategic objectives, collaborating with the FIRST community and senior management team to continue scaling FIRST programs to make hands-on learning opportunities available to even more students around the world – especially in underserved and underrepresented communities.
