Brain’s book highlights first female faculty member at Harvard

Joseph Brain, S.M. ’62 (applied sciences), recently co-authored the book “The Education of Alice Hamilton,” which focuses on Harvard’s first female faculty member.

Hamilton was appointed assistant professor of industrial medicine at Harvard Medical School in 1919.

Brain, Cecil K. and Philip Drinker Professor of Environmental Physiology at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, focuses his research on responses to inhaled gases, particulates, and microbes.
