Ku receives Soros Fellowship

Kathy Ku, S.M. ’14 (engineering sciences) has received a Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans.

Ku, who will pursue an MBA at the Harvard Business School after furthering her studies for an M.D. degree at the Stanford University School of Medicine, is one of 30 fellows selected from a pool of 1,766 applicants. The fellowship is awarded annually to immigrants and children of immigrants.

She was born in Seoul, South Korea, and is founder of SPOUTS of Water, a social enterprise in Uganda that produces low-cost, clay water filters to help impoverished Ugandan families access clean drinking water.
