COVID-19 FAQ's

Please see below for information regarding COVID-19 and the Summer 2021 REU program. We will try to keep this page as up to date as possible if any new information becomes available.

What will the REU 2021 program look like?

We anticipate that the REU 2021 program will offer remote projects and a limited number of hybrid/in-person projects. There will be no on-campus housing offered, and all seminars/workshops will be virtual.

What are the program dates?

Tentative program dates are Monday June 7, 2021 – August 13, 2021.

Will you be offering in-person projects?

We may be offering a limited number of in-person projects. We are still in talks with faculty regarding what projects will be offered.

Will you have on-campus housing?

Unfortunately, there will be no on-campus housing this summer.

If I receive an offer, will you help me find off-campus housing?

Because of the complex nature of housing in the Boston/Cambridge area, we are unable to directly assist in finding housing. There are many online resources for securing housing, including https://www.harvardhousingoffcampus.com/.

What if I'm an international student, am I eligible?

Because of the complexity of visa, stipend, and travel restrictions due to COVID-19 in 2021, we are unable to host international students for either remote or in-person projects, unless they are already on an F-1 visa and currently living in the US.

What COVID-19 protocols and precautions are being taken?

Please refer to Harvard’s Coronavirus website for the most up to date information regarding safety precautions, testing, and guidance:

What is the application deadline?

The online application will close March 31st at 11:59 PST.

When will you be making offers?

We will start reviewing applications after the March 31st deadline.
